Private Charter Jet Trips to Vail this Summer

Posted by Solairus Marketing on May 23, 2012 3:30:00 PM

Vail Blue Sky Home

Blue Sky Residence in Vail during Summer

The chairlifts have stopped running in Vail and the chic mountain resort is quieting down a bit during the slower spring off season. But, private charter jet visitors to Vail have a lot of great stuff to look forward to once Memorial Day Weekend hits and summer season is in full swing by July 4 – plenty of opportunities for hiking and biking in the mountains, as well as fabulous annual events, the Sunday farmers’ market and lots of al fresco dining options. Here are some new events scheduled for Vail’s warm-weather months, as well as some recently opened restaurants.

Gran Fondo Vail Cycling Race

Modeled after bike races in Italy, this long-distance event for amateur cyclists August 18-19 will cover plenty of mountain terrain, high elevation gain and some short stints on dirt roads. Spectators will be able to catch the cyclists flying in and out of town; participants of the 120-mile full course or 50-mile short course will enjoy a pasta meal and plenty of Proseco afterwards! The Vail event is part of a national series that includes San Diego, Beverly Hills, Philadelphia, Reno and Miami.

Vail Symposium: Living at Your Peak

At this two-and-a-half day summit September 13-15, participants explore ways to live longer and healthier through presentations by top fitness, nutrition, psychology and medical experts, plus interactive sessions and opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities in glorious area mountains. An on-hand concierge helps guide each guest to meet his or her health, fitness and longevity goals.

Matsuhisa Vail

This stellar sushi restaurant in the Solaris complex in the heart of Vail Village opened in late 2011. If you didn’t check it out during your private charter jet trip during ski season, stop in this summer for a meal on the patio, where you can sample outstanding yellowtail, shrimp tempura, and Nobu Matsuhisa’s famous Broiled Black Cod with Miso.

Elway’s

Another restaurant that opened just a few months ago, Elway’s is owned in part by former Denver Bronco quarterback and NFL Hall of Famer John Elway. The steakhouse replaced the oh-so-dated and frou-frou Wildflower restaurant in the Lodge at Vail. This welcome renovation to the space is sleek and modern, and the menu features steaks, seafood, Colorado lamb and a nice array of salads.

Best Dining During a Private Charter Jet Trip to Lake Tahoe

Posted by Solairus Marketing on May 21, 2012 9:34:00 AM

Wolfdale's Restaurant Tahoe

Inspiring Views and Cuisine is a staple at Wolfdale's

Think mountain towns don’t offer much when it comes to sophisticated and trendy cuisine? Think again. Tahoe area restaurants offer the kind of dining experience that our private charter jet passengers expect in larger cultural centers, and Tahoe’s chefs, more importantly, have an easier time staying current when it comes to 2012′s hottest dining trend: locally sourced everything – from produce, meat and seafood to beer and wine. Add in that Tahoe is home to numerous Zagat-rated restaurants and the mountain escape you’re planning might turn out to be culinary-based.

Wolfdale’s Unique Cuisine, Tahoe City

If lakeview dining and inspired cuisine served in a creative display is your thing, consider Wolfdale’s. In operation since the late 70s, Wolfdale’s adventurous style is rooted in its farm-to-table ethos and sustainable choices when it comes to meats and seafood. We suggest you show up hungry and sample the Truffle fries rolled in Asiago cheese before moving onto menu mainstays such as Miso-glazed Alderwood Black Cod.

Pianeta Cucina Italian, Truckee

Once your private charter jet lands in Tahoe, immerse yourself in old-world European charm at Pianeta with their Italian and Mediterranean-style dishes. Prior to opening, owners Robyn Sills and Ed Coleman took the time to meticulously renovate the historic space that houses Pianeta. Their efforts paid off: the atmosphere conveys the authenticity and cozy intimacy of 500-year-old design. This classic theme extends beyond the dining space: every morning the kitchen staff hand-rolls pasta for the evening meal under executive chef Bill Arnoff’s watchful eye while he prepares Pianeta’s signature crispy duck with balsamic and basil infused demi-glaze.

PlumpJack Café, Squaw Valley

Obsessively seasonal menu, check. Locally-farmed produce, check. On-site sommelier, check. It’s no wonder PlumpJack Café excels at epicurean delights. Somewhat of a locavore, executive chef Ben Dufresne delivers on dishes like Fulton Valley Free Range Chicken Breast and Durham Ranch Sirloin of Prime Beef.

Dragonfly, Truckee

For Dragonfly, located in historic downtown, 2012s ethnic food trend comes easy especially with choices like lemongrass marinated New Bedford Diver Scallops and plantain and panko crusted Basa. Open daily, Dragonfly serves a sublime blend of Asian-influenced cuisine like Thai, Japanese, Indian and Malaysian. They also offer some of Truckee’s best cocktails and give beer connoisseurs unmatched access to west coast microbrews.

Petra, Village at Northstar

In December 2011 Petra opened doors in the Village and has received rave-reviews since. Self-assured proprietress Kali Kopley offers smart, tapas-style eats that are large on flavor and lets you pair them with limited-production wines from family-owned wineries.

Private Charter Jet Trip To the Baja Peninsula

Posted by Solairus Marketing on May 14, 2012 10:37:00 AM

The Baja Peninsula’s immense beauty never ceases to amaze. The roaring waves of the Pacific. The colossal rocks rising seemingly out of nowhere in Cataviña. The blond shorelines that flirt with the Sea of Cortez’s capricious waters—sometimes azure, sometimes emerald. Baja endlessly produces wonder after wonder for our private charter jet travelers.

Espíritu Santo, the crown jewel of the Sea of Cortez’s nearly 1,000 islands and a World Heritage site. Trek down to the marina-facing offices of Cabo Expeditions, an activities company that specializes in conservation and connecting travelers with nature and meet with a dozen or so tourists—ranging in age from twentysomething to 77 and coming from as far away as New York—and Cabo Expeditions’ expert guides:  geologists, marine biologists, ornithologists, and professional divers.

The guides—led by the charismatic, ridiculously knowledgeable, and fluidly English-speaking Beto Romero—ushers guests into a spacious bus, were you'll set off for Tecolote, a beach outside La Paz. The trip there takes nearly three hours, including a leisurely, gab-filled stop at a roadside restaurant for a traditional Mexican breakfast. Once at Tecolote, you'll be assigned wetsuits and snorkel gear and then climbed aboard a boat captained by an ebullient local.

The itinerary will take you around the island (there are actually two, which are collectively known as Espíritu Santo), and make stops along the way to explore mesmerizingly beautiful caves and landmarks. All the while, Beto will explain the history of the island, the geology, and its people. Fault lines are pointed out, flora and fauna identified, and fishing camps contextualized.

Jumping into the water, you'll be greeted by playful and not-at-all-shy sea lions, coral reefs will come alive with bright-colored eels, and starfish of all shades will keep you and your underwater camera busy!

Come lunchtime, you'll be treated to tostadas with marlin ceviche and escabeche on a pristine beach. The rest of the trip around Espíritu Santo and back to Tecolote will be punctuated with extraordinary whale sightings.

Rinsing off the sand and salt, slip gracefully out of our wetsuits, and climb back into the bus for the quiet return to Cabo. Some of your traveling companions will nap, others will click through pictures on their digital cameras, and still others will plot their private charter jet return trip.

Private Charter Jet flights to Makena Beach and Golf Resort

Posted by Solairus Marketing on May 10, 2012 1:09:00 PM

Makena Golf Course

A Golfer's Paradise: Makena Golf Course

Nestled between the gentle slopes of Haleakala and the white sandy shores of South Maui, the 18-hole golf course at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort could easily be called a golfer’s paradise for our private charter jet passengers.

Open from sunrise to sunset, golfers have the unique opportunity to play where nature, beauty and skill come together in this challenging course with views of the sparkling Pacific Ocean, Molokini Crater and the neighboring island of Kahoolawe. Opened in 1993, the Makena Golf Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and includes the second longest hole in the state of Hawaii at 620 yards.

The course begins with a par 4 at 417 yards and weaves alongside native foliage, natural ravines and Hawaiian archeology as ancient rock walls are found just outside the greens. Use precision to avoid the outcroppings of black lava rock, evidence of the dormant volcano, which can easily hide your ball around hole 5 and use skill to safely send your ball over the ravine on hole 6. Try limiting your gaze to only a few seconds at the breathtaking view on hole 12 and take note of the 620 yard distance on hole 14. The course ends with a par 4 at 422 yards.

You’ll be greeted with a crisp cold towel to refresh you upon returning to the clubhouse after finishing your game. Take a few moments to browse the items in the pro shop or have a bite to eat at the restaurant, Café on the Green.

Manicured greens, stunning views of the South Maui coastline and pristine golf carts which come with GPS, towels, tees and bottled water, this golf course is 40 minutes away from where your private charter jet will land in Maui, and is just minutes from the Inspirato Wailea Residences or a pleasant coastal drive from the new Kapalua Residence.

Santa Catalina Island Provides an Ideal Charter Jet Trip Get-Away

Posted by Solairus Marketing on May 8, 2012 9:20:00 AM

Avalon Bay, Catalina Island

Avalon Bay, Catalina Island (Photo credit: Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce)

Newport Coast, with its miles of naturally preserved coastline, sophisticated dining offerings, and world class golf courses is an optimal private charter jet vacation destination.  You can easily enjoy an ample array of satisfying recreational activities during your vacation here without leaving the 23 square miles of land that comprise this city’s terrain.  However, should you feel like exploring beyond this town’s borders, there are some fabulous day trip options that won’t disappoint!

A favorite of locals and tourists alike is the nearby island of Santa Catalina.  The island was especially favored in Hollywood’s glamour days when celebrities such as Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable, Joan Crawford, James Cagney and many more made Catalina the preferred playground of the rich and famous.

Getting to Catalina requires advance planning.  The Catalina Flyer departs from Newport Harbor daily but reservations are generally required.   The ferry will have you at the island in 75 minutes. For more luxurious transportation to this Island, take a private charter jet and arrive in style.

Catalina Bison

Catalina Bison (Photo credit: Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce)

Once you reach Catalina you will be amazed at the remote beauty of this picturesque, quaint island.  Rent a golf cart and take your own personal tour. You can drive uphill to one the highest viewing points and enjoy the breathtaking scenic vista or make your way to the desolate side where bison roam freely.

Kiosks alongside the beach offer just about every aquatic activity imaginable. Waver runners, dive tours, parasailing, kayaking, fishing, and snorkeling are among the many options. Land-based activities are also offered in abundance. Golf, tennis, biking, hiking and zip lining, are some of the popular ways to enjoy your day on Catalina. Charming waterfront eateries provide an inviting reprieve when you are ready to dine or sip a cocktail before getting ready to board the late afternoon ferry back to Newport.

Springtime Private Charter Jet Trip Ideas

Posted by Solairus Marketing on Apr 9, 2012 9:21:00 AM

oslo skyline
Need an all-new private charter jet vacation idea this Spring? Here are five places where you can have fun and relax around the world.

Amsterdam
Amsterdam is truly a city that you can visit in any season. It is not very big but it still takes a couple of days to discover and feel part of it. It can be visited quietly on foot, even if the bicycle is part of the modus vivendi of the city. Everyone uses the bicycle. There are bike paths everywhere (cyclists have priority over pedestrians!). You can park it outside pubs, museums and along the canals. If, by mistake, your bicycle falls into a canal, don't worry: every month canals are dredged and hundreds of bikes are collected.

Oslo
Oslo is a natural reserve with beautiful parks and green spaces. If you walk in the center of the city you will just need a few steps to find a park to relax; with a 10 minute boat ride, instead, you can start to discover the beautiful beaches on the Oslo Fjord. The capital of Norway is also full of attractions, museums, art galleries and shops to go shopping. And remember: you can not leave Oslo without having first met her quintessential painter, Edvard Munch. The paintings of this artist are exposed at the Munch Museum and the National Gallery. But if you want to see the strong artistic sense of this city you do not have to go necessarily to a museum: the Vigeland Sculpture Park is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Norway, with more than 200 sculptures realised by Gustav Vigeland.

Madrid
After landing in your privater charter jet, you can start the tour of the city walking on the famous Gran Via, where you can admire the Metropolis building: if you want to go shopping, you should enter the department store El Corte Inglés as well. Take a leap into the Desigual flagship store (Calle Fuencarral), with dresses, coats and bags as well as clothing for men.

Madrid is also the home of some of the most famous and prestigious art galleries in Europe: Museo del Prado, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza and Centro de Arte Reina Sofia.

Lisbon
Taking a private jet charter to Lisbon, you can not help but see the fascinating Tower of Belém, one of the most beautiful examples of the Manueline style, also known as the Portuguese late Gothic. Then, you can reach on foot the Monastery of Jerónimos. This impressive building provides another vivid example of late Gothic: here you can find the tombs of the navigator who sailed to India, Vasco de Gama. Finally, you can visit the Antiga Confeitaria de Belém, where you can sit and order a sweetness included by The Guardian among the top 50 best delicacies in the world: Pastel de Nata, a sort of tart with cream.

Rome
When you visit Rome you must eat! You can start your meal with spaghetti alla carbonara (pasta with eggs and bacon) or bucatini all'amatriciana. In a city with a lot of good restaurants you can sample dishes like abbacchio alla romana (a sort of lamb), coda alla vaccinara (the oxtail), saltimbocca alla romana (meat rolls), accompanied by the famous Roman artichokes. Finally, you can't miss a beautiful chocolate maritozzo, hoping that cholesterol is on vacation in some other city!

As you can see, there are a lot of opportunities to have fun if you are taking a private charter jet holiday: Amsterdam, Oslo, Madrid, Lisbon and Rome offer a wide variety of entertainment for all tastes!

Travel Tips for a Private Jet Trip to Los Angeles

Posted by Solairus Marketing on Mar 26, 2012 10:15:00 AM

Rodeo Drive

Los Angeles is the perfect private jet destination for those wanting to unwind in style. With many excellent hotels, leisure activities and dining options for visitors to choose from, you’ll find Los Angeles offers something for every taste.

Here is a look at one of the best places to stay while in town. The Peninsula Beverly Hills offers private jet travelers a pleasant break from the downtown bustle. The hotel is tucked away in Beverly Hills and features a beautiful Renaissance interior design. Travelers will enjoy the added attention to detail as the rooms have bathtubs made of Italian marble and the sitting area has a fireplace, which serves as an elegant accent to the room. The service is superb as they have a full service spa and a rooftop swimming pool. The hotel also has upscale dining options and they offer limo service around Beverly Hills. For private jet travelers looking for the best in luxury, this is the ideal destination.

While in Los Angeles, travelers will also want to check out the many fine dining options available. Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar provides diners with an amazing array of wine selections in a fine dining environment. Guests will enjoy selecting from their award winning collection of 100 wines. Additionally, the restaurant has multiple course meals sure to please any palate. Their service is superb as they also have private dinning options, which is perfect for small and large groups.

The Ivy has a reputation for the many famous stars of the stage and screen that frequent there. Along with this diners will enjoy a vibrant atmosphere with attentive service. The food selections are decadent and rivals fare you would find at any fine dining location. For its exclusiveness, this is a necessary destination for travelers.

For shoppers looking for the best in high end retailing, Los Angeles has you covered. Obviously the most popular spot to visit is the legendary Rodeo Drive. There shoppers can select from top end stores such as Missoni, Prada, Tiffany & Co. and Louis Vuitton.

Beverly Boulevard also has an excellent assortment of top end brand stores. Here shoppers can visit Stella McCartney who displays her entire clothing line in a 1920s style cottage. For diamond lovers, they’ll want to stop by Erica Courtney, who is one of the best jewelry stores in the city. Lastly, vintage shoppers that enjoy the old school looks will want to visit Re-Mix as they feature top shoe styles from the 1920s-1950s.

If you are looking to take a break from it all, Los Angeles offers the best in leisure activities. For starters, private jet travelers who want to see Hollywood in style can do so with private limousine tours. This is a great way to check out all the hot spots around town while traveling in a luxury vehicle.

Other leisure activities include golfing on championship level golf courses such as Rancho Park Golf Club. Visitors can tour Los Angeles and the surrounding communities from the air on a private plane or they can go luxury boating on the ocean.

As you can see, Los Angeles offers much in the way of luxury experiences. For private charter jet travelers looking for a great time, the city has many exclusive ways to make your experience a memorable one.
